ExtraTrail Theux is an ideal playground for trail running enthusiasts looking for technical trails and challenging elevation gains in a pristine natural setting. Located in the heart of the Ardennes , this network of four marked trails, created by passionate individuals, crosses forests, rivers, rocky outcrops and spectacular panoramas, with iconic sites such as Franchimont Castle , the Bronromme peat bog , the Staneux woods and the Vert Buisson hornbeam grove .
The suggested distances cater to all levels : 8 km ( 331 m elevation gain), 18 km ( 513 m ), 26 km ( 880 m ), and 37 km ( 870 m ). All routes start in the center of Theux ( Rue du Pont 3 ) and are permanently marked . For optimal navigation, the Sity Trail app provides access to detailed digital maps.
ExtraTrail also connects Theux to Spa and Stoumont via additional routes ranging from 0.5 km to 13.5 km . Each runner runs at their own risk: some technical sections and bridges require particular attention. Of course, as everywhere, trail runners must be mindful of hikers and respect the environment.
